The Power Of Simplicity

Sometimes simplicity speaks volumes....

Simplicity is something that I am always aiming for as a photographer.
I don't always get there.
Sometimes I miss the mark.
But its the ultimate goal.

I'm not sure what in society has taught us that art must be hard.
That it must be complicated
or busy.

While that may be true,
For me, art is simplicity.
Its easy.
It expresses truth.

Art is the small things.
Its the breath of love.
The power of truth.
The voice of the mind, heart and soul
And the beauty of liberation that comes with all those things.

I believe, Art, at its core is the beauty of simplicity.

For this image, I wanted to challenge myself.
I used my old camera, and my kit lens because they are nothing fancy.
When it comes down to it, its not about the gear of what was used,
but the feel, the mood and the message of the final piece.
I took three separate images.
One of my model, Taylor.
And another one for both pieces of fabric.
(Which are actually sheer curtains, I might add)
Then blended the three shots together.

All the elements of this photograph were simple.
So simple was the finished product.
However, because of the simplicity of it all...
This image speaks.
It's powerful.

I love it.
It's dark...
Mysterious
Beautiful.

When you leave art to its own devices,
you are left with nothing more than emotion. These emotions are what makes art.
They are what tell the story.

Never underestimate the power held within the simple things.
For the simple things are the big things.

Taylor.

Yesterday I photographed my GORGEOUS friend, Taylor. We have had so many fun times together. From late night runs to Walmart and paying for a tub of Ice Cream in nothing but change, and  about everything else you can imagine. Yesterday was no different. She is definitely someone I would call a true friend. I always love photographing her because I always boss her around and she ever seems to mind. She is truly beautiful inside and out and I'm excited to see all the big things she will accomplish in her life!
